There's a backstory to this comic, and even if it doesn't make much sense to anyone, it was funny at the time. People really were selling their souls on eBay (it was just a piece of paper telling the buyer they now owned the seller's soul). I heard eBay put a stop to that a while ago, but now it seems they've lifted the ban.
